An awards ceremony was held during the CeBIT Show in Hannover, Germany, on March 2, 2010 to announce the winners and present the awards.

Completing Osaka Nishikinohama Factory to increase production of solar cells

SANYO Electric Co., Ltd. (SANYO) is pleased to announce the realization of a 22.8% cell energy conversion efficiency, for a research-level HIT solar cell*1. This comes close to the world’s best conversion efficiency of 23.0% in a practical size (100 cm2 or more) announced in May 2009. SANYO’s solar cell improvement was realized using a cell thickness of 98μm, which is less than half*2 the previous thickness.
