DII Press Release: Desertec Industrial Initiative appoints Prof. Klaus Töpfer as its strategic advisor

Prof. Klaus Töpfer will advise the Desertec Industrial Initiative (Dii) on strategic issues. His activities will focus on political and social questions, with a view to realising the Desertec vision to the benefit of all participants in Europe, the Middle East and North Africa.

Solar Millennium AG's statement regarding an online article published on 24 February

Solar Millennium points out that the sale of stakes in the planned Ibersol project in the south of Spain were fully and accurately represented in the 2008/2009 Annual Report. Solar Millennium herewith specifies its announcement from 18 November 2009 insofar as the sale of 50 percent of the project company to Ibersol Kraftwerks GmbH, 50 percent of which belong to Solar Millennium AG, came into legal effect as of 30 October 2009 after the required board approvals were granted on 17 November 2009. This was correctly presented in the press release from 18 November 2009.

Solar Millennium achieves best result in Company history in the 2008/2009 fiscal year

Good prospects for US power plant projects

At the end of December, the US Bureau of Land Management (BLM) placed Solar Millen-nium Group's proposed solar power plant located in the Amargosa desert, Nevada, on its so-called Fast-Track list. Previously, only the three Californian sites of Solar Millennium's planned solar power plants had reached this status. If the approval is successful, the Solar Millennium Group could realize up to nine solar thermal power plants at these locations with a potential maximum capacity of about 2,500 Megawatt (MW) in total.

Next collector generation starts demonstration run

The Solar Millennium Group's next collector generation, the HelioTrough, has taken up operation at a commercial parabolic trough power plant in California. The demonstration rig consists of two rows of collectors with a total length of 800 meters and was installed between September and November 2009. In California, the efficiency of the new collector will be measured in commercial operation and under real conditions before it is used in future power plant projects.
