Solar Millennium AG (ISIN DE0007218406) has hit another milestone in the permitting process for realizing its first parabolic trough power plants in the American southwest. Solar Millennium, LLC, the U.S. project development subsidiary of Solar Trust of America, today announced that its proposed Blythe Solar Power Project was recommended for final approval for licensing by the California Energy Commission (CEC). This is an important milestone in the company's efforts to obtain final approval to build four 242-megawatt plants in Riverside County.

Solar Millennium AG (ISIN DE0007218406) has hit another milestone on the road to realizing its first parabolic trough power plants in the American southwest. The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has approved a power purchase agreement between Solar Millennium's American project development unit Solar Millennium LLC, Berkeley, and the US energy provider Southern California Edison (SCE) for two 242-megawatt (MW) solar power plants planned in California.

Yesterday Milenio Solar, the Spanish wholly owned development subsidiary of Solar Millennium AG (ISIN DE0007218406) signed a contract for a parabolic through power plant feasibility study with Inversiones Energéticas S.A. de C.V. (INE) whose main shareholder is Comisión Ejecutiva Hidroeléctrica del Río Lempa (CEL) the public utility of El Salvador. Together with a local partner, Milenio Solar will analyze the technical, legal and financial framework needed for a public-private investment structure for a parabolic through power plant in El Salvador.

Turbine, condenser and generator on their way to Andasol 3

The condenser for the power plant block of Andasol 3 arrived at the building site near La Calahorra on Monday. Also the turbine for the Andasol 3 power plant has already reached the Mediterranean coast in the south of Spain. At the same time, the generator that was built in Great Britain is being prepared for its journey. Together, the three power plant components as well as the corresponding equipment weigh some 565 tons - a great challenge for those, who are responsible for the logistics.

More than 75 percent of the Andasol Fund subscribed

Parallel to the construction progress of the parabolic trough power plant Andasol 3 also the Andasol Fund distribution is making progress. Until today more than 75 percent of the total volume of approx. 48 million € have been subscribed. At the moment, Andasol 3 is the only solar-thermal power plant offering private investors the opportunity to participate in expected returns via a closed fund. Solar Millennium forecasts a return on investment of 8.0% p.a. for the Andasol Fund (excl. premium and before flat rate tax).
