Brakel Atmos and Scheuten Solar cooperate on unique solar concept
'Energetic' interaction between active PV roof and atrium
Atrium specialists Brakel Atmos and solar specialists Scheuten Solar have entered into a cooperation arrangement in which both companies will jointly be providing sustainable, comfortable and aesthetically pleasing atria. The combination of forces will result in a market entity bringing all the necessary specialisms under one roof.
Understanding of sustainable atria
Brakel Atmos and Scheuten Solar were already well acquainted with each other, with Scheuten Solar manufacturing, among other things, glass panels with integrated solar cells for use by Brakel Atmos in its roof glazing. The fact that the two companies are now combining forces has everything to do with the concept of 'sustainable building' which is assuming increasing importance in the building world. Those who are able to distinguish themselves in the field of 'sustainable building' will be the future winners.
'Cooperation with Brakel Atmos constitutes a new dimension in the application of solar energy in roof glazing. It takes us one step further. On the basis of calculations and simulations, we are now able to look at the energy and comfort aspects of atria', stated Ariane Bischoff, Scheuten Solar’s BIPV Product Market Manager.
Energetic cooperation
The combination of forces will enable Brakel Atmos to introduce the solar concept – a unique concept, with Brakel Atmos being the only company in the sector able to compute the interaction between active roof – i.e. a roof with solar panels – and atrium in terms of energy value. An example of interaction is the effect of solar panels in roof glazing on ventilation requirements and cooling load in the atrium. Customers will gain a clearer understanding of the energy and comfort performance of the room in question.
“Brakel Atmos has considerable experience in the field of glazed atria and related areas such as climate control, solar protection and fire safety. The fact that Scheuten Solar knows all the ins and outs of solar energy cannot but lead to innovation and an energetic cooperation”, added Ton van Gerwen, Brakel Atmos’ Managing Director.
Brakel Atmos has 35 years of involvement in the sphere of roof and façade glazing, fire safety and ventilation. The company, with its staff of 250, is active in both the new building and renovation project area on a turnkey basis: from the engineering and manufacturing stage to the assembly and maintenance stage.
Scheuten Solar is a global player in designing, manufacturing and applying photovoltaic solar modules. Since Scheuten Solar was set up in 2000 it has evolved into a fully-grown organization boasting specialists in the fields of solar technology, manufacturing, project development and project realization. By managing every stage of the solar value chain Scheuten Solar guarantees the quality and performance of all products.
